2021 saw Ocean’s inaugural Season of Giving launch, but Ocean knows how crucial it is to support our community partnerships and organizations throughout the year. With that in mind, we worked with numerous organizations throughout the year, both on property and with our team members going directly into the community.

Pi Day DonationThis Winter, Ocean Cares expanded their community relationships to include partnerships with The Hansen Foundation, Arc of Atlantic County, Earth Angels for Dementia, as well as Leaders in Training. These organizations have also shared 100% of the proceeds collected via the Change for Change campaign. The American Red Cross held a blood drive on property, and team members celebrated Pi Day (March 14th) by delivering 330 apple pies to five organizations that Ocean supports; AtlantiCare, Covenant House, Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City, The Salvation Army, and the Atlantic City Rescue Mission
As Spring broke and flowers bloomed throughout Atlantic City, Ocean celebrated National Pet Day (April 11th) by holding a pet supply drive, collecting over 1,000 pounds of pet food, along with 8 full bags of linens that were donated to The Humane Society of Atlantic County. Ocean also continued its work with Covenant House of Atlantic City, donating $5,000 in gifts and lunches to the staff and teen residents of this facility. ONational Nurse’s Day (May 6th), Ocean acknowledged its close relationship with front-line doctors and nurses in the area, donating 50 lunches to AtlantiCare’s healthcare workers.
Summer at the Jersey Shore and at Ocean Casino Resort is consistently action-packed but this past summer, Ocean was sure to find time to continue its philanthropic efforts as well. This June, Ocean partnered with South Jersey Field of Dreams, spending a day playing baseball with the organization’s very special athletes. Additionally, Ocean kicked off its Ocean Pride Happy Hour, and partnered up with Garden State Equality by sponsoring their Atlantic City Pride Walk on the famed AC boardwalk. In July, several of Ocean’s talented chefs taught Culinary Demo classes to the Boys & Girls Club Atlantic City students, while Ocean donated quarterly checks to their numerous community partners, totaling $20,000. Ocean also continued supporting the students in the Atlantic City area who were heading back into the classrooms. Ocean team members donated over 500 backpacks and notebookocean-exterior-reflections, over 800 pens, and over 600 glue sticks to Leaders In Training, The Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City, Pennsylvania Ave. School, and Uptown School Complex
As Autumn rolled into Atlantic City, Ocean donated $10,000 to The American Red Cross to assist victims of Hurricane Ida (via The American Red Cross Hurricane Ida Relief Fund) and to mark the somber occasion of 09/11, Ocean contributed a monetary donation to the Saracini-O’Neill Memorial, with team members handing out American flags to attendees. Breast Cancer Awareness Month (every October) saw Ocean sponsoring Ocean City’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. Bill Callahan (Interim CEO) also participated in the Real Men Wear Pink Campaign, raising almost $60,000 for The American Cancer Society. Additionally, Ocean hosted a luncheon at Luna’s for The Atlantic City Police Department & Fire Department to mark National First Responders Day (October 28th). In November, V.P. of Player Development Chris O’Connor participated in Covenant House’s Sleep Out Event, raising almost $12,000 for this organization, while Ocean was an event sponsor. Finally, the last months of the year saw Ocean kick off its inaugural Season of Giving campaign, where Ocean contributed $40,000 in gifts, assistance & donations to a variety of Southern New Jersey non-profit organizations, as we continued our mission to work closely with our community partners.
