Believe it or not, it has to do with our human tendency to detect and deal with threats. Essentially, fireworks captivate us because, on a biological level, they scare us senseless. When you’re lying on a lawn, gazing in amazement as a spectrum of colors dances above you, your brain:

Activates the amygdala, a ball of nerves responsible for detecting fear

Every Friday in July, we’ll be setting off a sizzling fireworks show just steps from our gaming floor in The Park. Starting at 9 pm, the weekends will be kicking off with a literal bang as we throw pyrotechnic parties that you’ll remember for the rest of your life.

America may turn 247 this year, but we’re marking the occasion with some technology that’s closer to our age of five. While fireworks are exceptionally exhilarating, modern drones can perform some dazzling maneuvers that rival the brightest explosions. This year, we couldn’t decide between the two—so we decided to combine them both!

Combining drones with firework displays has been rising in popularity for years as they push spectacles to new heights. To ring in 2022, The United Arab Emirates put on one such show that featured a record-setting pillar of pyrotechnics over a kilometer in height.

Inspired by such impressive feats, we’re putting on our own display. For boisterous bangs and buzzing, bright lights above the boardwalk, find a firepit in The Park by 9 pm on July 7th, plant yourself by it, and get ready for next-level performance.
