Ocean Casino Resort is Supporting Local Charities with Our Change for Change Campaign Return to BlogPublished: February 2024 From scoring massive jackpots to betting big on the world’s largest sporting events, there are a plethora of ways to win at Ocean Casino Resort. Likewise, there are just as many ways that we give back to our community—with one of our favorites being our annual Change for Change campaign. Our guests usually end up with a ticket or two with a few cents of winnings left on them from the slot machines. Normally, they would either cash them out or take them home as a souvenir but, for the last few years, we’ve given players a more meaningful place to put those pennies. Change for Change supports a myriad of charities doing exceptional work in and around AC. This year, you can donate to four wonderful organizations by slipping your tickets into any of the collection boxes located around our gaming floor. Angels in Motion Angels in Motion was started in Philadelphia but makes admirable street outreach contributions to communities in New Jersey–including Atlantic City. They’re focused on helping vulnerable populations—especially individuals facing homelessness, mental health challenges and substance abuse disorder—overcome their issues and live more fulfilled lives. Some of their notable work includes: Serves approximately 8,000 meals annually in Atlantic City 15,000 Blessing Bags distributed providing engagement and resources while addressing food insecurity Holding twice-monthly community meetings aimed at spreading awareness about substance abuse disorder and its treatment Supporting the family and friends of individuals affected by substance abuse disorder A Meaningful Purpose at Reed’s Farm Regenerative agriculture is the name of the game at Reed’s Farm and their meaningful purpose is feeding The Garden State through time-tested, organic farming techniques. Donations to Reed’s Farm not only help foster a healthier New Jersey, but they also support: Vocational training for individuals with intellectual disabilities Agricultural education programs for students and aspiring farmers to help them learn essential sustainable farming practices suitable for the New Jersey area Agricultural conservation projects aimed at reducing chemical usage, improving biodiversity, and improving soil health Reed’s Animal Sanctuary, which takes in homeless and special-needs animals that would otherwise be put down Community initiatives that empower local chefs, makers, artists, and farmers to follow their dreams “We are grateful to be a recipient of the Ocean Cares Change for Change program. In 2024, we’ll be able to use these funds to continue to develop a local food system, as well as expand our educational and vocational program opportunities within Atlantic County and community programming in Atlantic City.” — Cookie Till, Co-Founder FACES 4 Autism Autistic individuals, whether intentionally or not, are far too often excluded from group events and celebrations. Faces 4 Autism seeks to change that by curating outings, activities, and other collective festivities that acknowledge and celebrate the strengths of autistic individuals in the South Jersey area. They provide autism education and resources to families and educators and create awareness and acceptance in the region. Donations to Faces 4 Autism go directly to supporting autistic children, adults, and their families and creating brighter futures for those who are differently-abled. Over the years, they’ve worked tirelessly to support the community by hosting: Weekend retreats for special-needs moms and caregivers Workshops Christmas tree festivals Halloween-themed dance parties Comedy nights Autism Awareness Month events A plethora of other activities aimed at bringing a smile to their community members’ faces Oceanside | Family Success Center When people in AC have big issues and don’t know where to turn, Oceanside Family Success Center is there. They’re an all-inclusive charity aimed at assisting youth, families, individuals, and communities throughout the city. All of their resources are completely free and some of their most admirable activities include: Hosting job fairs and helping unemployed individuals acquire meaningful employment Organizing training programs that equip local workers with new skills that help them advance in their careers Providing enrichment workshops, family fun activities, computer access, diaper and formula giveaways and many more community events Providing and supporting community resources—such as food banks, homelessness prevention services, and legal aid—to some of Atlantic City’s most vulnerable populations From Everyone at Ocean Casino Resort, Thanks for Donating to Change for Change! When you spin the reels at Ocean Casino Resort this year, you may find yourself with a few cents too many in winnings. While a few-cent ticket might not feel like much, it can make a world of difference to the charities participating in our Change for Change campaign. So, for everyone who decides to give their pennies, nickels, and dimes in support of local communities in 2024, we sincerely thank you! Without your generosity, these charities wouldn’t be able to reach out and help as many individuals as they currently do. In past years, our guests have generated up to $90,000 for other organizations. We hope you’ll return with the same charitable energy in 2024 and help us support more members of the AC community.
