But it’s not just us. Our wonderful guests have also generously contributed to the cause. Together, we've pooled our resources to build something truly special—an all-new press box that's set to elevate the game-day experience for everyone involved.

On Saturday, October 21, our team celebrated the grand unveiling of the press box! 

What Is the South Jersey Field of Dreams? 

The South Jersey Field of Dreams (SJFOD) is a remarkable initiative that extends the joys of baseball to physically and mentally disabled children and adults. Situated in Absecon's Dr. Jonathan Pitney Recreation Park, this field serves as an inclusive space where the love for America's pastime knows no bounds.

Generous sponsorship and the support of the local community have helped tailor this unique field to be accessible to all. Whether it’s the specially designed infield surface compatible with walkers and wheelchairs or the accessible dugouts and parking areas, the field ensures that physical limitations are not barriers to participation.

This is more than just a field, it’s a testament to what can be achieved when the Atlantic City community unites in a shared cause. 

The Field of Dreams Sports Complex

Over the years, the complex has evolved significantly beyond a simple baseball field. Thanks to the consistent support from sponsors, volunteers, and the community, what began as a simple concept has transformed into a comprehensive recreational sports facility that includes: 

• The Burrows mini golf – Open to all during game time, this unique 9-hole course is the home of Goodwin Gopher. And, those wanting to enjoy some solo putting can bring their own clubs and balls for a round.

• Souvenir shop – For fans looking to back their favorite players, the souvenir shop awaits. Stocked with various mementos and memorabilia, all proceeds go directly to benefit the South Jersey Field of Dreams.

• Concession stand – As the first building erected on site, the concession stand not only occupies a cherished spot in the community's heart but also offers up complimentary treats for all athletes. A dedicated Wall of Fame recognizes the generous individuals who continue to make the SJFOD dream a reality.

• Exercise trail – Surrounding the entire facility, a scenic walking trail stands as a testament to the community's hard work and dedication. It guarantees that individuals of all abilities have access to move and get their heart rate pumping. 

• Playground – Constructed through generous donations and volunteer labor, this inclusive, handicap-accessible playground also features an area perfect for family picnics. The playground stays open to the community 24/7.

The Press Box 

The newest crown jewel at the South Jersey Field of Dreams sports complex is the press box.

Funded in part by generous contributions from Ocean Casino Resort and its gracious guests, this latest addition promises to amplify the game day experience for everyone. It will serve as a hub for announcements, commentary, and capturing those unforgettable moments. It’s just the latest testament to the continuous dedication and evolving vision for what this remarkable field can be.
