Halloween Haunts and Treats

On Hallow’s Eve, ghostly creatures and spine-chilling ghouls wander Atlantic city’s moon-lit boardwalk, as mysterious cheers, melodies, and toasts drift in from the other side. 

The other side of the boardwalk, that is.

On Halloween, ghosts and ghouls aren’t the only ones who come out to play in Atlantic City. The season summons a host of spooktacular events, including hair-raising performances, seasonal brews, and wicked Halloween balls that are sure to have you howling at the moon all night long. 

#1 Halloween Weekend

The portal to otherworldly thrills opens long before Halloween. Creep into the night for a bewitching performance from MORTEN, a Danish DJ who’s spinning magic all night long at HQ2 Nightclub. He spellbinds EDM and the underground for a sound that transcends this realm. 

Post-mortem MORTEN with James Hype the following night. He’s materializing within HQ2 Nightclub’s walls for one night only to showcase his remixing wizardry. His collaborations include R3WIRE, Tita Lau, Zurra, Dots Per Inch, and More Than Friends.

For month-long charades, Ocean Casino Resort is conjuring up a cauldron of events and Atlantic City parties across the resort during the month of October:

• HQ2 Nightclub – Let the music possess you at one of the best Atlantic City nightclubs, which features two levels of dance floors and a variety of performers, including Fashen, DJ Klutch, Neil Jackson, and Hex Hector. 

• Nola’s Halloween Party – Nola’s Bar and Lounge is turning upside down on Saturday, October 29 for a wicked fun-filled Halloween costume party! Tap into your creative side and dust off your cleverest costume for a chance to win some amazing prizes. Enjoy tricks and treats such as specialty cocktails, live entertainment from The Wayouts and Flip Like Wilson, and more.  

• Villain & Saint – Drift between heaven and hell at Villian & Saint, a rock ‘n’ roll music hall that was voted Best Bartenders in Casino Player’s Best of Dining & Nightlife Awards 2022. The devil’s music echoes throughout the hall this October with the likes of Chorduroy, the Chris Yoder Band, and the Adam Holcombe trio.

#2 The Halloween Ball

Calling all zombies, goblins, and witches—you’re cordially invited to the annual Halloween Ball. Drift in as the clock strikes 8 for an enchanted evening of sinister behavior and spirited tunes.

English DJ and producer Joel Corry is your host for the night. Come dressed in your spookiest wear and let the music take you away to otherworldly dimensions. At a loss for creepy and creative attire? Try these on for size:

• Royal Flush – Gather four of your buddies and come dressed as a flush of hearts. For a blood-curdling rendition, conjure Alice in Wonderland’s Queen of Hearts’ chilling battle cry.

• Zombie bellhop – Create your very own rags to riches story with a torn and mangled bellhop’s outfit and bloody makeup that oozes down your chin.

• Frightful flapper – Summon the spirit of a woeful flapper girl, with a cascading dress, pale white makeup, and a look as if you’ve just seen a ghost.

• Phantom of the nightclub – Come clad as the cast from Phantom of the Opera, including the Phantom, Christine, and maybe even the monkey from the oh-so-mysterious music box.

The ball will be held in Ocean Casino Resort’s very own Ovation Hall, a popular haunt known for its floating skyboxes, spine-tingling sound, and magical performances.

#3 Brews and Concoctions

A variety of tempting brews, concoctions, and elixirs await you this Halloween season. From seasonal craft beer to scrumptious seasonal cocktails, Ocean Casino Resort specializes in all the favorite fall flavors:

• Serendipity3 – Legendary New York City restaurant, Serendipity3 home of the world famous Frrrozen Hot Chocolate is offering Halloween themed cocktails this year! Celebrate with one of our specialty cocktails:
  • Frog’s Breath - caramel apple martini 
  • Dracula’s Kiss - maple bourbon smash with whiskey and maple syrup 
  • Green Goblin - apple martini 
  • Witches Brew - Empress 1908 Indigo Gin, strawberry purée, and blue curaçao 
• Villain & Saint – Return to the music hall and gastropub for a lineup of autumnal craft beers, including Leinenkugels Oktoberfest, Hacker Pchorr Oktoberfest, and Sam Adams Oktoberfest. You can pair your festive brews with Korean fried chicken wings, a wagyu burger, or seasonal shellfish. 

• Lobby Bar – Cozy up inside at the circular bar or next to the outdoor firepits at the Lobby Bar as you sip on seasonal cocktails, including classic hot toddies, cranberry margaritas, and apple cinnamon moscow mules to wind down after experiencing Atlantic City nightlife.

• The Grind – If you’re looking for a mummy-like awakening, drag yourself to The Grind for a pumpkin-spice latte or apple crisp macchiato. Add a pound cake or muffin to the mix and you won’t be undead for long. 

#4 Tasty Treats

Don’t let the season spook you—with ghouls and goblins also comes seasonal dishes that are bound to put you under a spell. 

Our witches—ahem, chefs—are crafting a tasty menu of delicious dishes reminiscent of last season’s offerings that appeared across the resort at various venues, including:

• American Cut – The smoke of seared scallops drifted through the air in a ghostly manner as they simmered in sunchoke puree, cilantro, soy, and lime. Sauteed kale stretched across roasted butternut squash, and capers and tomato vinaigrette crawled over plates of roasted cauliflower. That year, our chefs ditched the tricks for treats with an apple galette a la mode that simply melted on the tongue.

• Villain & Saint – Braised pork belly bursted with jalapeno cream cheese and pineapple pepper jelly, which fell out like organs. Beet tartare waded in a dark mixture of balsamic, avocado, and pink peppercorn, and Maryland crab met its demise in dip-form, accompanied by the dark side of tortilla chips: blue corn. 

• Dolce Mare – Diners were enticed by clams with bacon, onions, peppers, and bread crumbs; seafood chowder with shrimp, scallops, potatoes, and crispy prosciutto; and speck-wrapped scallops with couscous, leeks, port reduction, and royal trumpet mushrooms. And of course, we couldn’t forget the veal ossobuco, which oozed with risotto milanese, broccoli rabe, and orange grimolata.
