The Festival of Lights is Celebrated This Year At Makai

Ocean Casino Resortis the premier place to spend the holiday season, and that includes Hanukkah. This year, we are celebrating the Festival of Lights with an exceptionally special Hanukkah menu at one of our newest additions to the Ocean Casino Resort dining experience, Makai. From Sunday 11/28 through Monday 12/06, we will be offering traditional dishes, but with a truly one of a kind island twist. Additionally, Ocean Casino Resort will be contributing a monetary donation to the Jewish Family Services of Atlantic City, in support of Makai’s Hanukkah menu.

To start off the day, breakfast will consist of classic Hanukkah specials like Smoked Salmon Eggs Benny’s with potato latke, furiyake spinach and yuzu hollandaise and the decadent Challah French Toast, complete with macadamia, white chocolate and a divine toasted coconut guava rum syrup. Classic Kugel gets infused with some Makai influence with pineapple, raisins, cinnamon and mint included in this dish.

If you are looking to start off your Makai experience with an appetizer, the Potato Latkes with a unique caramelized pineapple sauce and scallion sour cream) is a sure bet, and the Matzo Ball Soup with roast duck & black tip scallion is a rare delight that must be tried. Brisket is a Hanukkah favorite, so the Kona Beef Brisket Sandwich complete with island slaw & pineapple on a Hawaiian sweet roll and served with Yuka Fries is a sure bet to satisfy your seasonal cravings.

Entrees showcase everything from the Huli Huli Roast Chicken served alongside red cabbage and maui onion jus and the Kona Beef Brisket with a mango date sauce, ginger tzimmes and dill potatoes. The Za’atar Crusted Salmon is served alongside a perfectly charred bok choy and a uniquely wonderful miso mustard sauce.

Dessert is a requirement on both Hanukkah and during a visit to Makai, and we have several options available to satisfy any craving. The Rugalach is a sweet pasty of nuts, raisins and fruit perfect for those of any age that are celebrating. The Chocolate Gelt Martini is the quintessential adult dessert, combining Chopin potato vodka, Godiva chocolate liqueur, and Goldschlager.
