The big blue is more than just a backdrop for the Boardwalk’s resorts and casinos: it’s a critical ecosystem that requires our care and attention. That’s why Ocean Casino Resort is committed to investing in positive environmental change. To pay tribute to the sparkling, inviting waters lapping against our beach (and supplying critical resources for the entire globe), we’re taking a look back at some of our past commitments to environmental causes—and taking a moment to note some of our current initiatives. 2023 World Ocean Day Celebration Last year, we celebrated World Ocean Day—Atlantic City Boardwalk style. We honored our proximity to the Atlantic, supported critical organizations in NJ, and spread the word about ocean conservation with our guests. Let’s roll the highlight reel: Beach Cleanup On Wednesday, June 7, 2023, the Ocean Casino Resort team organized a beach cleanup spanning our entire 20 beachfront acres. As part of our pledge to responsibly dispose of waste, this beach cleanup helped us restore our natural ecosystem to its pristine state and raise awareness about plastic pollution, dumping, and other tactics that can jeopardize our ocean. Charitable Contributions In addition to our beach cleanup, we made charitable donations to two organizations doing critical environmental work on the Boardwalk and beyond: Absecon Lighthouse – The Absecon Lighthouse is a must-see Atlantic City monument to a time long past—a time of harrowing ocean faring and lightkeepers’ steadfast commitment to monitoring the seas. After a recent restoration, Absecon Lighthouse offers an even more engrossing cultural experience for AC locals and visitors alike. Marine Mammal Stranding Center – The Marine Mammal Stranding Center is the only federally authorized animal hospital responding to sea mammals and turtles in crisis in New Jersey. In addition to providing medical care to ocean-dwellers in distress, the Marine Mammal Stranding Center offers educational experiences for visitors young and old. Ocean Casino Resort is proud to support two local groups promoting (and showcasing) responsible ocean stewardship. A Meaningful Purpose at Reed’s Farm In 2024, Ocean Casino Resort is proud to support a new group of local non-profit organizations working for community, environmental, and social improvements in the Atlantic City area and beyond. One of these organizations is the Meaningful Purpose initiative at Reed’s Farm—an operation addressing food insecurity, soil regeneration, and community inclusiveness in Atlantic County, NJ. This organic and regenerative farm operates 365 days a year: they host a farm animal sanctuary and provide educational and vocational support to local schools and organizations. We’re proud to support Reed’s Farm’s eco-friendly, informed approach to food production and community enrichment. Ocean Cares: A Fund for Change on the Boardwalk and Beyond Our contributions to the Meaningful Purpose initiative at Reed’s Farm are funded by Ocean Cares: the charitable arm of Ocean Casino Resort. Last year, one of our most impactful campaigns was the “Change for Change” program. Our guests donated their change slips throughout the campaign, totaling a jaw-dropping $90,000—a sum we donated to four local organizations. We’re looking forward to this year’s Ocean Cares initiatives and impacts!
