Comedy at the Ocean Resort Casino: Jeff Dunham, Shane Gillis, Andrew Schultz, Matt Rife, and More

Ocean Casino Resort has cemented its reputation as Atlantic City’s premier destination for high-stakes gaming, gourmet fine dining, and unrivaled entertainment. As part of our 5th-anniversary, summer-long celebration, Ovation Hall has booked an all-star lineup of the country’s top comedians, with shows kicking off at the beginning of July. 

While some of the shows have already passed, we want to recap the highlights and give you a preview of the hilarity still to come for the rest of the summer. 

Jeff Dunham 

Ocean Casino Resort’s summer of laughter kicked off with Jeff Dunham’s: Still Not Canceled. The world-renowned ventriloquist brought Ovation Hall to life as he introduced audiences to his five funny companions: Achmed, Peanut, Walter, José, and Buba J.

Dunham is a veteran of the comedy scene, with nine record-breaking comedy specials under his belt, including two that were the most viewed specials on Comedy Central in their respective years. He’s guest-starred on shows like "Ellen" and "30 Rock" and has appeared in movies like "Dinner for Schmucks.” 

Today, Dunham is arguably the world’s most well-known ventriloquist, with more than 3.6 million YouTube subscribers, 11 million Facebook followers, and over a billion total views.

Though the July 14th show has passed, the memories of Dunham's zany characters and their absurdly funny antics continue to resonate with fans.  

Shane Gillis 

On July 15th, the Ocean Casino Resort hosted writer, actor, podcaster, and stand-up comedian Shane Gillis for an unforgettable night of candid and unfiltered stand-up. 

Hailing from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, Gillis first made a name for himself after clinching the title of Philly’s Funniest at Helium Comedy Club in 2016. His unique comedic style caught the attention of the industry, leading to his being recognized as an “Up-Next” Comic at Comedy Central’s 2019 Clusterfest in San Francisco and a “New Face” at the prestigious Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal.

Shane Gillis is the co-host of the wildly popular show Matt & Shane’s Secret Podcast. And, in 2021, he released his debut comedy special, Shane Gillis: Live in Austin, on YouTube. Since then, the special has been watched more than 6,000,000 times. 

Guests raved about the sold-out show, and we look forward to hosting Gillis again in the future. 

Andrew Schulz

Fasten your seatbelts for the unapologetically hilarious Andrew Schulz, lighting up the stage at Ovation Hall for a sold-out show on July 29. 

The native New Yorker is a jack of all trades—comedian, actor, and podcaster. As a co-host of the Flagrant podcast with Akaash Singh and The Brilliant Idiots podcast, and with appearances on the Joe Rogan Experience, Schulz has amassed 2.75 million YouTube subscribers, 4.5 million followers on TikTok, and 3 million followers on Instagram.   

Schulz has become known for his off-the-cuff crowd work, fearless hot-takes, hilarious insights, and his willingness to make fun of anything and everything. As part of his 'Schulz Life Tour,’ fans will be treated to his highly-praised "Infamous" special. 

True to his comedic style, attendees can anticipate a night filled with shock and laughter. No subject will be off-limits as Schulz dissects the absurdity of modern society with his biting wit and irreverent sense of humor. 

Matt Rife 

Get Ready For Matt Rife Weekend!

On August 18th to 20th we’re excited to host comedy’s latest sensation, Matt Rife, as he brings his blend of charm and humor to Ovation Hall for his “ProblemMATTic” World Tour. All (5) shows are sold out, and we eagerly anticipate sharing laughter and entertainment with our enthusiastic audience

From small-town Ohio to global fame, Matt Rife's comedic journey has been anything but ordinary. With a decade hustling comedy clubs and appearing on TV shows like MTV's "Wild 'N Out" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," Rife's breakthrough came in an unexpected form: a two-and-a-half-minute TikTok video. 

Titled "The Lazy Hero," the video showcases Rife's engaging crowd work, nimble wit, stage presence, and—as he will self-deprecatingly joke about in his sets—his model good looks. Lazy Hero went viral, racking up 20 million views in just a few days and catapulting Rife to TikTok and Instagram stardom. To date, he’s amassed 16 million followers on TikTok and 5 million on Instagram.
