As part of our continued Season of Giving Initiative, Ocean Casino Resort continues to be a proud sponsor of Covenant House. Earlier this year we made a significant donation to Covenant House Atlantic City (including items like duffel bags and bed sets that came directly from a wish list supplied by Covenant House). And as the winter chill hit the Jersey Shore, Ocean Casino Resort VP of Player Development Chris O’Connor participated in Covenant House’s Sleep Out, which contributed to raising almost $12,000 for Covenant House.

This year, Ocean contributed a holiday gift for each Covenant House resident, a wireless speaker and headphones. Ocean also contributed items that are crucial, including a toiletry bag filled with items and a tote bag. We are also providing an Italian lunch for all Covenant House residents and staff, complete with baked ziti, chicken parmesan, meatballs, salad, antipasti, and dessert. Additionally, we purchased clothing items and toys for both infants and toddlers residing at Covenant House. As part of our team member drive, we have also been collecting baby formula and diapers to benefit Covenant House

I spoke with Jen Williams from Covenant House who let me know that:

“It has been a really nice affirmation that our newest neighbors very obviously care about folks who may be struggling or in need within the local community. It has also been a nice affirmation that Ocean wanted to reach out in a variety of ways this year.”

She went on to say:

Not only have they decided to support our young people facing homelessness and ensuring that the holiday season is a merrier one, but they have reached out and supported us throughout the year. I feel like our population experiencing homelessness are often forgotten and sometimes overlooked. It’s nice to know that they are remembered, not just through the holidays, but all year long. And that Ocean is willing to support them in a variety of ways.”
