Ocean Partners Up With Project Prom AC

Published: March 2022

A continuous community partner of Ocean Casino Resort (and one of the noted organizations for our 2022 Ocean Cares initiative), Ocean recently had team members volunteer their own time over three separate days at the Project Prom AC event to benefit the Boys & Girls Club and local high school and middle school students. They were tasked with assisting hundreds of young ladies in making their prom one of the most magical evenings of their lives yet. Sponsored by Kensington Furniture and Mattress, the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City, SoJo 104.9, and Rene Kane and Co., Ocean team members were proud to support the sixth annual Project Prom AC Giveaway. Whether the young ladies in attendance were looking for a long flowing princess-style gown or a more simple and tailored formal look, the girls had options that ran the gamut of styles and designs. Of course, no look is compete without the much- needed accessories, and the girls were able to obtain free jewelry and accessories to go with the dresses. The event is also crucial to many families in the area, as not only does it ease the financial burden and help the girls build confidence, but it also helps the magical prom night that the girls are envisioning become a reality. The inception of Project Prom AC itself is truly the definition of paying it forward; Rene Kane founded the organization after she volunteered at a prom dress giveaway herself almost a decade ago. Marking six years of donating dresses for Project Prom’s AC (with a two year hiatus due to COVID-19), Kane predicted that this year’s event would be one of their biggest yet, bringing in at least 500 to 600 people as proms and formal events are being held with minimal restrictions. The sense of fulfillment she felt, coupled with the need she noticed for dresses for young ladies in the area, is what initially sparked the idea for Project Prom AC for Kane. She told the Press of Atlantic City that “it’s rewarding, making dreams come true. No girl should not be able to go to their prom because they couldn’t buy a dress” For more info, check out theoceanac.com
