Historically, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service is Stockton University’s signature Annual Day of Service (held on Monday, January 17th). The landmark day brings together over 900 students, community members and partners, and includes over 25 on and off-campus projects, with virtual projects being available as well. While this year’s Day of Service projects are reserved to students and staff only (due to Covid restrictions), there were still numerous opportunities for the community to participate.

Ocean Casino Resort is contributing to the Annual Day of Service by donating a variety of toiletry items to support the Day of Service hospitality kit project–such as soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and body wash. This project will be taking place directly on the Atlantic City Campus of Stockton University, with the hospitality kits being donated to assist another one of Ocean’s longtime community partners, the Atlantic City Rescue Mission.

During this year’s Day of Service project, the volunteers will be decorating small bags, and designing and completing hand-written note cards, filling these kits with personal hygiene products that are donated by both Ocean Casino Resort and local dentist offices. In addition to the toiletry items being donated by Ocean, the kits will include toothbrushes, toothpaste, and a delicious healthy snack. The kits will then be donated to the various clients of the Atlantic City Rescue Mission. The project also offers the opportunity for collaboration and relationship-building with local businesses to obtain products that are regularly in need by the AC Rescue Mission for potential regular distribution to their clients, as well as to provide ongoing support to those clients.
