Ocean Casino Resort proudly continues to make community outreach and philanthropic efforts a tentpole of the Ocean culture. With contributions made in areas of Health & Human Services, Culture, and Seniors, donations to last year’s Ocean Cares four charities reached over $82,000. This year, Ocean is continuing their Ocean Cares initiative, benefitting the four worthwhile organizations below.

As a Member of Feeding America, The Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) has spent the last forty-five years delivering food and assistance throughout the state of New Jersey. Just last year, 85 million meals were distributed via the CFBNJ network of more than 800 community partners. This includes soup kitchens, emergency shelters and mobile pantries throughout 15 New Jersey counties. With 800,000 people (and 60,000 of them in Atlantic, Cape May, and Cumberland counties), Ocean Casino Resort was proud to donate 6,000 pounds of food to CFBNJ in March of 2020, and remains a steadfast and loyal partner with them in 2022 through Ocean Cares.

The Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City remains the sole youth development agency in Atlantic City that is licensed by the New Jersey State Child Care Program. Serving school age children and teens (ages 6-18) in both after-school and summer programs, as well as various other initiatives, focusing on five areas that contribute to well rounded, inquisitive and active participants. Those areas are Education and Career Development, Character and Leadership Development, Health and Life Skills, The Arts, as well as Sports, Fitness and Recreation, with each aspect conducted in a safe, friendly and welcoming environments, one that values “unity, positive relationships, and love for one another”. Ocean Casino Resort shares that mission of unity, and last summer four of our own talented chefs participating in summer culinary clubs, where kids were taught everything from the basics of baking to making one of Villain and Saint’s famed fried chicken sandwiches (courtesy of Chef Jorge Barreto).

Formerly known as The Women’s Center, Avanzar was founded by “five founding mothers who launched a 24-hour rape and sexual assault line directly from their homes. The organization has transformed into an organization offering a variety of Social Justice Services, including Domestic Violence, Displaced Homemakers, and Sexual Assault, and Early Childhood Education. Consistently striving to serve individuals of all walks of life, Avanzar remains true to their mission statement “Diversity is our Strength”, in 2018 rolling out a new brand reflecting their progressive responses to social justice within the community. With that in mind, Ocean Casino Resort made Avanzar one of the worthy donation recipients of our Season of Giving Initiative during the 2021 holiday season.

Operating as a day center for homeless and at-risk women in Atlantic City, Adelaide’s Place provides a safe place for women to come during the day for some much needed respite. They are able to come during the day for a cup of coffee, a snack, to participate in arts and crafts, or even to learn crucial life skills. Adelaide’s Place also provides linkages to health and housing agencies, provides toiletries & clothing for women in need, and even offers a safe space for women to do their laundry. While Adelaide’s Place was shuttered inside for eighteen months due to Covid (with only their deck window available to serve their clients), they are now reopened and thriving. Serving over 2,000 women since their inception, Ocean Casino Resort also made Adelaide’s Place part other 2022 Season of Giving, with Ocean team members working directly with Adelaide’s Place to supply much needed cold-weather items (as well as toiletries) to their clients during the frigid winter months.
